Undergraduate Research Opportunities

The Health and Adaptive Recreation Therapy (HEART) Lab offers meaningful opportunities for undergraduate students to gain hands-on research experience through independent study, honors projects, and volunteer research assistant positions. Students work closely with Dr. Chen and graduate mentors on projects involving physical activity, inclusive recreation, disability, aging, and community-based health promotion. These experiences are ideal for students interested in health professions, adapted physical activity, therapy, medicine, or research careers.

Graduate Study Opportunities

The HEART Lab welcomes highly motivated graduate students who are interested in pursuing Master’s or Doctoral degrees in Human Physiology with a focus on physical activity, motor learning, inclusive sport, disability, and aging-related research. Graduate students in the lab receive training in research design, data collection, community-engaged scholarship, and scientific writing, and are supported in developing strong publication and conference presentation records.
